Privacy Policy for StiriUltimaOra.com

Effective date: 06.08.2026

Introduction

Welcome to StiriUltimaOra.com. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our application.

You can reach the data controller at [email protected].

Information We Collect

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for various purposes, including:

We do not build profiles of our readers, and we do not use your reading history for anything other than showing you the article lists you asked for.

Cookies and Local Storage

We set no cookies. Neither the app nor the website stores a cookie of its own, and no third-party script runs on our website — its ad slots are filled only with our own promotions and affiliate links.

What we do use is local storage on your own device, in the app and in your browser, to hold:

This is what makes the app work as you asked it to — it is not analytics, it is not shared with anyone, and it is not used to profile you. Under Legea 506/2004 and the ePrivacy Directive this kind of strictly functional storage does not require your consent, but we tell you about it: in the app on first run, and on the website in the notice at the bottom of the page.

If you sign in on the website, your sign-in token is held in memory only — reloading the page signs you out. It is never written to browser storage.

You can clear all of it at any time from Setări → Resetează preferințele, or, in a browser, through your browser's site-data controls. On the website, the same notice choice can be revisited at any time from Setări → Preferințe pentru reclame.

Advertising

The mobile app displays advertising supplied by Google AdMob, and may also show our own promotions and affiliate links. On our website, ad slots are filled only with our own promotions and affiliate links — no third-party advertising network runs there.

For advertising in the mobile app, Google acts as an independent data controller. Google may process:

Personalized ads use this data to select ads likely to be relevant to you and to measure how they perform. Non-personalized ads are based only on coarse context, such as the general subject of the screen you are on and a rough location. If you do not consent, you will still see ads — they will simply be non-personalized.

How Google uses information from apps that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers ourselves.

Analytics (mobile apps)

The iOS and Android apps use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used — which screens are opened and which features are used, such as opening an article, choosing a category or completing a purchase.

For this, Firebase generates a random app-instance identifier on your device. We log no name, no email address, no account identity and no precise location into analytics; what we work with is aggregated usage statistics. Google (Google Ireland Ltd for readers in the EEA) processes this data on our behalf, and how Firebase handles data is described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Analytics is off by default. It starts only if you answer the consent dialog described under Consent (EEA and Romania) below with consent for storage on your device; declining keeps it off, and withdrawing consent later from Setări → Preferințe pentru reclame turns it off again. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

The website runs no analytics and no third-party script at all — and its security policy makes your browser enforce that, rather than asking you to take our word for it.

Affiliate Links

Some links in the mobile app and on stiriultimaora.com are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to buy something, we may earn a commission from the retailer — at no extra cost to you. Every such placement is visibly labelled "Publicitate" where you see it, not only here.

An affiliate placement is a plain link and nothing more. We load no advertising script, no tracking pixel and no frame from the retailer, so nothing about you is sent anywhere until you choose to click. Because it collects nothing, it does not depend on your advertising consent — declining personalised ads removes personalisation from the ads Google serves, and leaves these links exactly as they were.

When you do click, you are taken to the retailer's own site, where their cookies and their privacy policy apply — they, not we, are responsible for anything stored on your device at that point. We never receive personal data back from them; we see only aggregate reports of how many purchases a link produced.

Purchases (Premium)

The mobile app offers an optional paid upgrade, Premium, which removes advertising and switches on the automatic offline edition. It never unlocks news content — every article in the app is free to read.

Payment is handled entirely by Apple, through your App Store account, under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. We never see your name, card number or billing address in connection with a purchase.

To recognise a purchase — including after you reinstall the app or lapse and return — we use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), a purchase-validation service that processes this data on our behalf:

RevenueCat uses this only to tell the app whether your Premium is active, and does not use it for advertising or profiling. How RevenueCat handles data is described at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and are managed or cancelled at any time in your App Store account settings; refunds are handled by Apple under its own rules.

Consent (EEA and Romania)

Because our readers are in the European Economic Area, we ask for your consent before any ad is requested, using Google's certified consent management platform under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF v2.2). This applies to the mobile apps, which are the only place a third-party advertising network runs. The same dialog governs analytics: Google Analytics for Firebase stays off unless your answer allows storage on your device — see Analytics (mobile apps) above.

On the website there is no such network and nothing to gather consent for, so the notice at the bottom of the page tells you what is stored locally and asks separately whether you would accept personalised advertising. We record your answer and honour it; today it changes nothing you can see, because the only ads on the website are our own promotions and affiliate links.

App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

On iOS, Apple additionally requires your permission before an app may use the device's advertising identifier for tracking. We show that system prompt separately from the consent form above, and only where your answer can still change what you are shown.

Declining it does not restrict any feature of the app. You can change your answer later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

Your Choices

You have certain choices regarding your information, including:

Your Rights Under the GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to request access to your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw any consent you have given.

To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Romanian supervisory authority, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP)dataprotection.ro.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

Our app is not directed to children. In Romania, the age at which someone can consent to information society services on their own is 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below it.

We do not mark our ad requests as directed to children or to users below the age of consent, because the app is a general news service intended for adults. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
